About the Owners

Crabtree Gardens, LLC and Cottage at Crabtree Gardens Guest House is owned by Sandra Crabtree.  She has been married to her husband David for 10 years, and has been gardening with a passion for over 30 years.

Sandra acquired Certification in Garden and Interior Design from Inchbald School of Design, UK, in 2003. Her deep love of the English style of gardening and decor is evident in all aspects of the gardens and facilities.

In addition to her role at the gardens and guest house, she has been a contributing writer for Gardening Know How, an online garden help website, and has been published in the On Gardening page of Horticulture magazine . She is a Garden Coach, does speaking engagements and workshops both at the gardens and off-site and is a consultant for the Berwick Beautification Committee.

She has appeared on WNEP TV Home and Backyard show as a featured guest for her floral projects while she was the owner of her home decor shop, Sandra's Selections.  Her home decorating talents were featured for several years at the  Holly Trail, a local holiday home tour.

David was the prior owner of Crabtree Naturals, a leather design company. He has a background as a butcher and kitchen installer. He completed a pastry course in 2006 and enjoys all types of cooking and entertaining. He currently holds a PA Serv-Safe Certification in food service. Although he maintains a full time position in purchasing, he spends his free time contributing to garden related activities and maintenance.

In 2007, Sandra and David purchased a vacant farm with an 80+ year old farmhouse on 5 acres in Drums, PA, and began an extensive renovation of both the home and gardens. Their love for gardening and entertaining has prompted them to continue to expand their paradise into an ongoing series of garden rooms and natural areas for relaxing and learning about the countryside that surrounds them.

In 2009, they acquired the Cottage, which is located next to the farm house. The beautiful brick home was lovingly hand built by the previous and only owners in 1953.  The Crabtrees have renovated it into a 3 bedroom Guest House with much respect paid to their former neighbors.

Established in April, 2011, Crabtree Gardens and the Cottage Guest House were paired as an educational gardening retreat offering adults interested in the world of gardening, cooking and other arts an opportunity to share the pleasures of their Eden by learning at the gardens and experiencing a relaxing English themed stay at the quaint Bed and Breakfast.
